Lyrics
everything you believe, you’ve been taught
and you see the world from your perspective
what you see is what you get
– that’s the way the world runs
all you sense outside this fact
are things that should be gunned down
who should you lay your trust into?
the man on the street who’s lost his way
or your heart that tries like mad to guide you?
if faith is all it takes
to turn your life from black to white
to cool your flames in the burning night
if faith is all it takes
to wake up to a new dawn
to leave behind what should already be gone
and faith is all it takes
can you afford not to explore
or is it worth a try to find what summons you?
you think faith is a way to escape
and ignore the truth and fake a purpose
fantasies to hide the truth
or just some way of coping
no, this is the reality
as seen with eyes wide open
he has made his kingdom available in our time
he has called us with a specialized intention in mind
he has made paradise reachable in his design
he has planted eternity in our hearts and minds
if faith is all it takes
and faith is all it takes
a silent plea to find the truth
will be the guide that kindly summons you
Behind the lyrics
“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrew. 11:1) This song is about the importance of faith when it comes to changing your life. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8–9). However, there is a difference between works of the law and works of faith. Believing that faith without works is dead (James 2:20) certainly does not mean we are supposed to be saved by our own works. It means we are supposed to act on our faith. A simple faith in Christ is the beginning and a changed heart is the outcome. There are so many false movements and confusing ways to live, but what is guiding you? Psalm 118:8 says “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.” If faith in Christ is all you need to change your life, is he not worth putting your trust into?
He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds.
– Ecclesiastes 3:11
